Is this the same as the standard Tamyia connector?

Should be, yup. I have also seen them called Tamiya connectors, Kyosho connectors, etc.

Because my charger, batteries and everything else is set up with the Tamayia/Kyosho connectors. Didn't want to have to buy new batteries if I didn't have to.
I see that Traxxas makes the "conversion connectors" if you will, that will adapt the standard connectors to the Traxxas connector on the slash....its a good thing!!

they do. i would start to convert everything over however. the tamiya/molex connectors melt if you look at them wrong.

Dont buy the plug adapters from traxxas, they are made cheaply, and they are just a hassle, i reccomend just buying TRX connecters and re-wiring your battery.

def wanna rewire your batteries. I really dont like the adapters, its not doing any performance good.

What do you guys do with your chargers though...do you make new leads for them as well?

The batteries I have and use are only for a starter box with the standard (Tamayia/Kyosho) connectors.....the Slash will be the one and only electric RC I have...I guess new batteris are in store.
Do batteries come with the Traxxas connectors pre-wired?

Some do, they are often referred to as "TRX" connectors - my Team Orion 4500 Rocket packs did. Most of the good battery pack assemblers online offer them for a small additional cost.

Yup,
Just take some wire and a male connector.(As your batts should be female as to safe guard for shorts) And wire one up yourself. It's cheaper and works just fine.

Word is that you can use the converters for charging batts. but they don't recommend using them in the vehicles themselves because of high current draw I think, or high something or rather.
