darn, just when i was certain that i wanted the new emaxx, they come out with another awesome truck. I've got a few months to decide so now i must come to a new decision. i like them both because they are waterproof. i like the slash because of the scale looks and the fact it is single motor/single battery, its just better that way because its easier to go brushless down the road and so much cheaper, but i really like 4wd. i just can't decide. Is 4wd worth the extra $? And is the emaxx more resilient to the elements because it has the sealed driveline off the revo, because i plan on driving in a bit of sand and sand gets everywhere. i'm just looking for some opinions so post your thoughts.

I would say e-maxx if you plan on water bashing or just really bashing

I have to say my preference is the slash. I had the old e-maxx and it was just too much truck to keep up. I know the new Maxx is tougher than the old one but i can't get over the amount of $$$$ I had to put in mine to make it live with a brushless set up. The slash on the other hand uses alot of the the proven rusty/pede parts so we know they'll take the beating without much work. I too wish the slash was 4WD (and sold as a kit. Traxxas are you listening) but I like the looks of the new slash too much not to buy it. The $200 difference in cost is a big helpful as well.

well i think e-revo is out of the question just because of cost, and i'm leaning more towards the slash, mostly if they come out with a waterproof vxl version. i'd be sold

uh oh i just looked at the e-revo closely for the first time. i really gotta stop doing that. oh well, it will probably be too expensive so i'm still thinking the slash

yeah i was also going to get the emaxx then i read up on the slash and now I'm leaning towards the slash! I like the single motor single battery too! and the extra money I would have used for a emaxx I can use to get batterys, and a blast I'm planning on pulling behind it! :)

thats a good idea, i've got a villain that would look cool behind an rc truck, now i just got to decide which truck

no matter which one ya choose you will get an awesome truck. do you want 2 wd action? 4wd? or old school suspension with 4wd?
jrod92
04-23-2008, 05:02 PM
well i want 4wd, but the question is am i willing to pay alot more for it, and is it worth it?
jrod92
04-23-2008, 05:12 PM
ok, i think i'm convinced on the slash. unfortunately its not 4wd but most of the time i don't really need it, and because of the price, i'll have some money left over for upgrades for this or my villain. now we just have to wait.

Is it just me or is the chassis layout of the slash just begging for a 4wd setup. I mean the servo way over to the side and no upper chassis between the shocks.

how much is the expected price of the e-revo?
Well on the e-revo forum I have read $400 - $500 for it.
I was thinking about getting an e-maxx then I got my pede. Then I was thinking about getting a slash then they unveiled the e-revo. So traxxas pretty much made up my mind for me on what my next truck will be. But it will be a long time before a e-revo joins my garage.

i am narrowing it down to the slash and the new e-maxx. the e-revo is out because of the price. Im looking more into the e-maxx because of 4wd. And i already have 2 2wd cars so.
Probably the e-maxx.

I think you should post this question on the e-maxx section you are getting biased opinions
just trying to get the whole thing because some of the advantages of the e-maxx are not mensioned
jrod92

thats true, but i'm sure they'd all say to buy an emaxx:D so i guess theres no real way for it to be unbiased.

jrod now im in the same boat as you.i really want 4wd but i dont want to spend $600 + on e-maxx.the slash and e-maxx are both water proof the only differences are 1 motor/1batt/2wd and thats about it.im kind of in the med. of the 2.i want the slash because its cheaper and i want the e-maxx because of the 4wd.i might just buy the slash and upgrade later if im still in this expensive hobby.i dont want to pour alot of $ into R/C.

Had a new E-max sold it..broke to easy for me.... Only 2 batt truck i would get is a E-revo...... I Have a slash already pre ordered from my local shop...i find the 1 battery cars that are 2 WD break way less and are better for wrenching on.

can you swap the old chassis on the e maxx with the new model chassis?

i've had a modded 3.3 Tmaxx for a couple of years now- I just bartered for a Stampede VXL with my LHS--- my 3.5 yr old son has been driving his stmapede xl5 for a year and a half- I bought mine because I found his truck to be so simple and relaible and cheap to go going.
I will barely use my 3.3 Tmaxx now- even though it is now a capable truck it took tons of money and time to get it there. and it still costs more to run and maintain than the Stampede.
My 3.3 Tmaxx will only be used when I go visit construction sites with my friends that are just too chewed up, chunky and uneven for the smaller 2wd Stampede.
The power of the VXL helps to make up for its lack of 4wd. High speeds can be hit very quickly which helps the Pede in hillclmbing. When it comes to jumping the PEde is much lighter so gets more air vs. the maxx- and it it less than half the weight so nasty landings don't make you wince as much.
IMO- there are only 2 main things a VXL Stampede needs to have upgraded before running it. it has to have aluminum shock caps-(if your a jumper) and it should also have an RPM bumper.
If money was no object my primary rc would be a MB5T with a brushless conversion. REAL Race quality buggies and truggies (especially Mugens) are just plain simple to work on don't break. I have a MBX4 buggy for racing- it never breaks. Unfortunately these are very expensive kits- and converting them to brushless is also very expensive.
go for the burshless Stampede

I have my Rustler with mm5700 love it.I also have my new Emaxx love it too.But I like the 4wd and the sealed electronics, driveline for the winter I had a blast with my maxx though all the snow we had gotten this year. You could run the slash too in the snow.get yourself some snow chains and it should be fine.Just my thoughts.

My$.02 - I bought my E-Maxx a couple years before I got my E-Pedes. Since gettign the Pedes theh Maxx sees very little use, in fact I put it in teh paper and Craigs list just the other day. I find the 2wd single motor trucks to be more user friendly and seeing as you only need one battery at a time I can run longer on the same # of packs. Do not get me wrong, teh E-Maxx is a very good truck, but when it comes right down to it I find the Pedes and my 1/18th vehicles to be more fun.

I have to say, im leaning towards a slash too. I need a good truck but that is waterproof, and i just love the slashes price. And i also loved to watch CORR racing a long time ago, so i love the body. The only reason though im going for electric is for when I run out of gas or glow plugs for my S-maxx, snow fun, and driving in the low parts of my stream. (also where the trout dont go, dams fix that up, if there high) Sadly, i really dont have the money, but Christmas money from my grandparents will fix that up.

I'm going to get a stampede & slash. It costs a lot less to keep these kits going compared to the heavy 4 wheel drive e-maxx. Which I have. It's a nice truck but it takes more work to keep it running well and is more likely to break. Also, the people that brought up the single battery point are right on. A good single lipo can get you lots of run time. I'll add Max Amps to my Christmas list this year. I also find it more fun to drive 2 wheel rather than 4 wheel drive.

Kind of a shame they, Traxxas, have not seen fit to offer a 4wd Rusty or Pede.
