Hi got off the phone with a traxxas support guy and was asking about wheel size and so forth and I also asked if the backspacing was equal so you can rotate the slashes wheels from front to rear and he told me they are equal off set and you can put the fronts on the back when the rears get worn a bit.

that is great, it keeps things a lot simpler and cheaper to maintain. thanks for the info mate

I would really like to believe Traxxas support on this one but the offset doesn't look like the same from what I've seen. If you view the slash desktop image #5 you can see the wheel nut is deeper in the rear wheel while the front is not. However in image #2 you can see the front wheel nut is in deeper so its clear you can rotate the wheels however the offset isn't the same, plus if you do a search on tower it lists separate part numbers for the front and rear wheels also showing that they are different.

I believe they are running different thickness Hex on the axles
#1654 Wheel Hubs, hex front
#3654 Wheel Hubs, Hex 8MM thick rear

 well the guy i talked to had the wheels in his hands so if he did not know ...then i hate to know who traxxas hires for the traxxas tech support then..............

More info regarding the Hex

different part numbers mean very little though. traxxas has designated some as front and some as rear.

That's what I get for eyeballing them.
The offset is different by 2 or 3 mm. All I had was a ruler to check with, and the wheels had to be packed up to head to Vegas.

Great. Possibly more tuning options by using Different Wheel Offset and/or Hex Width.

What I haven't seen anyone mention is that this is a 2wd truck. The rear wheels are gonna have hexes versus the fronts that will just bolt on like a Jato or Rusty. So if that is the case, you won't be able rotate the front wheels to the rear...

They use hex hubs front and rear.

The Electric Stampede & Rustler wheels are hex front & rear, the bearings are in the steering blocks & hub carriers. The Slash will carry on in the same tradition.

:o I was just lettin' the Jato/Rusty guy know that Electric 2WD Traxxas were different than Nitro...
I would NEVER think of stepping on the toes of a guy who's got Traxxas business cards on his desk! ;)

You're not stepping on any toes. I was genuinely appreciative that you provided that info. Thank you.

Wheelman, do you happen to know if 2.2 buggy rears will fit the Slash wheels? I have 2 pair of never-used Pro-Line Dirt Hawg I tires - not the 2.2 truck size but about 1 3/4" wide and 3 1/2" high.
I release they may be shorter & require a gearing change, but it seems like they would fit... Oh, jeepers - I just realized I could use my old (but also never-used) black HPI Super Star wheels from the old Super Nitro onroad 1/8th scale cars. Those Pro-Lines will fit on them. I even have new slicks in that size! Now THAT would require a serious gearing change!
Just mentally kit-bashing...
Thanks for releasing this truck, guys- seriously! Over at UltimateRC_dot_com everyone is going nuts over it. I personally have wanted a CORR scale-appearing truck for years and years and can't wait to get one for myself.
Check out JANG's video where he talks about his feelings towards the Slash, too:

I don't know... Only thing I can suggest is put them side by side when the truck is on shelves.

i installed 2.2 dirt hawgs on old style traxxas rims for all fours, and let me tell ya it woke the truck right up, i go 5-10mph faster, i do wheelies anytime i want, is just great, turning high speed..no problem i don't flip anymore.
see the pictures on the slash gallery at end of page three (blue slash)

well all i can say is my front wheels deffinatly have more offset than the rears
you can see by how much deeper the nut sits in the wheel
i realy dont understand why traxxas makes the front and rear wheels different offsets on their trucks, makes it alot more awkward and is as simple as making some extended from arms to solve aswell

I have the same wheel tire combo but I chose to go with the old skool rear's instead of the front wheel. I have to get my tires off of some old wheels first.

According to my measurements, you're track width will be off by ~1/8 per side. Frankly, that's likely not going to make much of a difference, but, just to be clear, it isn't an exact swap.

no! but close enough for me. beats buying new tires.

The rub in the wheel wells might be a problem with rotating the tires... I like the idea of swapping hubs as well with the tire swap...

I just got a new slash and it has the new rims and tires on it from the slayer.
They have a larger diameter on the inside than on the outside.
No 2.2 tire is going to fit these rims.

No 2.2 tire is going to fit these rims. How about of the 2.2 tire was modified? I have modified 3.2 Maxx tires to fit 3.8 Maxx wheels, and it worked very well.

Yes I suppose that could be done, but I'v never had luck doing that on anything that has any power pushing high RPM's
