Is it any good with no hopups? How old is it? How fast? How off-road? Is it tough? Can it rival the E-Maxx? ( sure it can, in PRICE)

well, the sledge is strictly a bashing machine, it would take mucho hop ups to be somewhat competative with trucks like the stampede, e-maxx, etc, but it can be done. it is very tough, as it is made for bashing. now how old is it, heres the problem - the first sledges were made in 1989 with a few upgrades ( the tq radio, stinger motor, and black plastic components instead of the old nylon ones.) its very "off-roadish", but stock it isnt fast, but with a hotter motor, ball bearings, and a different gear ratio it will move decently.

Sounds like exactly what I'm looking for.

yeah, thats the same thing i said when i bought mine, even though all of my friends said i should have got a stampede. a little tip, get a rrp 32 pitch 10 tooth pinion. they come stock with a 14 tooth pinion, which is way over-geared. i got one last night and with the stinger motor, it seems to have alot more low and mid end punch than high end, but the high end is still faster.

my bad, i made a typo :) oops! the sledge hammer comes stock with a 12 tooth pinion, but that is stil over - geared and it will wear out your motor faster than it should. but it is all right if youre running a stock motor.
