I'm assuming you've now figured out that nitro makes a lot more messy than electrons.

Nice first action shots.

Lol... Yeah... That exhaust of mine isn't helping at all! I need to get that fixed! It's shot now...

Thanks! Those are nothing though! I usually take my own action shots while driving, but I can't reach the wheel with my thumb with the TQ radio. I'll have to grab one of my Futabas for a run or two so I can get some good ones!

Good luck cleaning it up cooleo LOL. Half the fun of rc (to me, that is) is working on the car itself, not driving it though. I just spent about 3 hours working on my E. Rusty, getting it running after a 7 month set back.

cooleocool
05-27-2007, 10:59 PM
Yeah... The exhaust really did a number on the mess factor. It has a leak in the tubing, so it sprayed the chassis with a bit of goop. So it made for a huge mess... <_<. I've decided I'm not driving it until I get a working exhaust because that would cut down on the mess.

05-27-2007, 11:15 PM
I don't like mess..... Could you post a pic of the npede after a run with the exsaust(sp?) fixed. If it's too messy I won't go nitro ever.

cooleocool
05-27-2007, 11:24 PM
Sure. I can almost guarantee that it won't be even close to that bad, though. The exhaust silicone tubing was cracked almost all the way down the length of the tubing, so there was a long gap where the nitro goop was allowed to spew out all over the chassis back there. It should normally come out the exhaust tips. My exhaust is also not how it should be mounted either, so that makes the nitro goop go all over the rear end too. It should be a bit cleaner when I get things going right! That big of a mess is a bit of a bother, but keep in mind, I did put over an hour of run time on the truck today... So I guess it's not so bad!

Before I went nitro, I never really understood what the nitro guys were talking about. With the noise and the power and such. That is until I fired that engine up yesterday for the first time. Man that's cool! It sounds sweet when the exhaust is working right! And the fact that you don't have to stop running is cool too! Just fuel back up with the engine still going and take off again! From my experiences over the past couple of days, I now believe that everyone should should try nitro at least once! It's pretty neat stuff!

LOL Tom, you mean to tell me you never even took a go at nitro before??? I'm kinda surprised. I wanted nitro before even thinking about electric, that was back when I was around 8 or so. Also being a bit of a gearhead and an auto tech, I just love the mechanics of nitro.

I drove a poorly tuned .15 T-Maxx and had a blast with that too... But this is more fun... That was many years ago, so the "funness" kind of faded away...

I'm glad to see that you are liking nitro, How do you like having the brake drag a little bit when you are off throttle?, I'm not a big fan of drag brakes, I have been searching for the mip pipe and came up with nothing, so I am going to stick to my traxxas blue tuned pipe, I like the sound of it and the power that you get from it

I'll tel ya something, if you happen apon the chance for a N Rusty, they are A LOT of fun. The only truck I have not had that Traxxas has made in the last 5 years is the Revo, but the N Rusty was by far the most fun. I do love the pede, with the right rims and the moabs and a Toyota body, it looks so scale.

That even holds true for the pro.15 motor, a buddy of my switched his to side exhaust with a blue pipe, he said the top end was way better.

Yeah that's the one, but I was looking for the N'Pede shock tower too, I have one for my RC10GT and it made a huge difference, I wan't one on my N'Pede but I was kinda hoping to find one for cooleo, I am too broke to buy one right now

Off topic, sorry, but I always forget to look there too. Until last night.....

I was bored so went patrolling through the Market Place and found a 2.5 T-Maxx roller and bought it. Can't wait for it to get here!

You know... It's probably a good thing that I don't have a working exhaust. You know how much fuel I would have burned through today? And I wouldn't have taken the Rustler out to take those sweet action shots either! Must have been meant to be I guess... Yesterday's fun was enough to satisfy me for a bit. It was funny when I got my BL Rustler out today, though. Speeds are right around that of my N-Pede with my slightly conservative gearing, but it was quite! Lol!

That's what electrics are for..quite...er than nitros. electrics still make a good bit of noise to hear for ~ 50-80 feet.

How do you like the evader shocks adjust ability? I'm shot :)

cooleocool
05-29-2007, 10:57 PM
I have Evader shocks on my brother's Stampede. I don't care for them. The threaded bodies are nice, but I don't like the bottom fill. I just assume run Traxxas shocks!

Nice pics Tom, it looks like a fun truck!

How is the tuning and such going on the engine? Is it hard to get it right?

cooleocool
05-30-2007, 01:18 PM
Thanks! It is a very fun truck!

Tuning doesn't seem to be very bad. My dad was always out when we were running the truck and he was there to help me decide certain things that the manual said (as a second reference). I just richened it up for the 33% fuel and tried to drive it. It bogged, so I leaned it out a bit and that worked! Then I continued to lean it out until it stopped bogging and went a little bit past that. I haven't touched the LSN yet. It's really not too difficult. And if you have any doubts, just run her rich. That's what I am doing right now. I will start trying to fine tune it on of these days, but it doesn't seem like it would be too hard. It just takes a little time and practice, I would imagine.

Overall... Nitro is not a hassle at all. I thought tuning, having to buy fuel, etc would be downsides, but it's not that bad. A gallon of nitro is quite a bit, so it's not like you'll be buying it all of the time. And the tuning doesn't seem too bad either!

Looks fun! Are you noticing any other big handling characteristic differences between the E Pede and the N Pede?

cooleocool
05-30-2007, 05:40 PM
They both handle pretty similarly, IMO. But I haven't put a whole lot of wheel time in with the N-Pede... I do really like having actual brakes! That's cool! Can really pitch the rear end if you get on the brake!

I haven't touched the LSN yet.
The Pro .15 doesn't have a LSN, just an idle speed screw.

cooleocool
05-30-2007, 07:23 PM
Umm... Okay... So the LSN that I see on there... That's a figment of my imagination :p.

There is one. It even mentions it in the manual!

1fast3.3
05-30-2007, 07:50 PM
Tuning really doesn't become a pain until the engine starts wearing and weather conditions change alot. Here in hot and humid florida, you may change the tune every 15 minutes in a bashing.

The LSN is an easy adjustment, just do the pinch test. 1-2-idle high-3 quit. Adjust in very small incriments if needed.

cooleocool
05-30-2007, 07:57 PM
Yeah... Mine's running too rich on the LSN. It takes 6-7 seconds before it revs. I've still got to really tinker with it, though.

im pretty shure its lean not rich.

a little DA in a spray bottle will blast that stuff off

cooleocool
05-31-2007, 06:57 PM
Nope. If the engine was getting to little fuel (lean), the it would die quickly. If it was getting too much fuel (rich), then it won't die as quickly.

bashin Maxxer15
06-01-2007, 12:11 PM
I guess tuning would'nt be too bad then, noise is my only problem....

cooleocool
06-01-2007, 12:15 PM
Yeah... If your in doubt with the tuning, just run a touch rich! Noise isn't a problem for me... yet... the neighbors don't seem to mind. They like it actually!

And Sam! This truck can easily clear my double. My Rustler struggles to... This truck flys over it! It jumps so well!

I think you need to paint a custom body for it that has cooleocool on it and that little bird pic on it. Then it would really be cooleocool!

cooleocool
06-03-2007, 01:11 AM
That's actually not a bad idea! Put a thunder bird on the hood... We'll see! I brought an older Pro-Line F-150 shell I had down from the cottage today. The paint is no good at all (I didn't do it!), but it'll work... and it's a Ford!
