hi guys got a few q's for ya. i decided to re-do the shocks on my sledge today so that the rear wasn't so stiff and as i was working i noticed a few things:

the caps don't have the bracket-things on them like the newer shocks do. anyone know when they changed them?

the o-rings aren't the x-style like they are now. they're the plain donut-type. anyone know when they changed that?

the diaphrams are smaller than they are today - they look like the same size that come with the pro-series aluminum shocks now. my guess is that they didn't seal too well (judging by my shocks being covered in oil when i got it) so they increased the surface area.

the shocks didn't originally come on the truck (razer stuck them on there for me since it's harder to rebuild the old-style shocks that came on the sledge with the c-clips) so i'm not sure what era they're from, but if anyone has any answers i'd love to hear them. it's that little stuff that comes up in convos sometimes up at the track and i'd love to know :) haha.

Sounds like you got plain ole Ultra Shocks.

If you're referring to the shocks that come on the latest generation Stampede or Rustler and the Revo, they changed that on the Revo when it released. The shocks for the Rustler and Stampede changed just this summer.

I think.

my rustler and pedes from last year had the new style shocks through and through though. with the x-ring seals, newer caps and bigger diaphrams.

The non-gray ones? Hmm... I didn't know about that. I knew Traxxas changed the caps a bit, but not about the seals over the o-rings.

I have an old SRT truck and a TCP Buggy. They have aluminum shocks. Are these the old versions also? Are the Big Bore Shocks different than the ones I have?

the srt has what are considered the big bore shocks now, only back then i'm pretty sure they were produced differently. they are now teflon-coated, and my old ones from my srt chassis are a lighter gray and look like they're anodized.

the old plastic shocks that originally came on the sledge are equivalent to the pro-series aluminum shock design, only plastic, with the tapered shock caps, c-clips and smaller diaphrams.
