I run the bigbores with the dual rates and am very pleased. I just don't think the powerstrokes are anywhere near twice the price better.

Powerstrokes are the easily the best shocks available for maxx and the price reflects it.

Disagree, the best would be a 4 shock UE racer X setup.

For $145 I would say get the big bores. Yes, the powerstrokes are great shocks but I wouldn't say they are worth that much.

You will need UE or DACE shock towers to use them because they are larger 1/8 scale shocks.

That's actually a pretty stinking good deal for that setup.

I love my UE shocks!! I was deciding between them and the powerstrokes too. I did not go proline because they seem to be close to being discontinued and parts are going to be hard to find. That is also why they are so expensive.

I love my powerstrokes. They are awesome. The true progressive dampening really puts shock performance up to that of a Revo's.

Or just buy some FRONT 1/8th scale buggy shocks. They work just as good.

Yea, I got my PowerStrokes for 65 shipped. Too bad they were discontinued. The price has shot back up to over 150.

one the powerstrokes kick butt, way better handling and jumping than stock, i never own big bores so unfortunitly i cant compare.
two the powerstrokes are not discontinued. The all in one kit is discontinued and they started selling them in pairs. they did this because there were so many complaint about people wanting to buy 1 or 2 but having to buy the whole kit. But it was not good business for them to make the kit and make them seperate, so they went with separating them all out. most lhs can get order them.
you can get all the parts for a rebuild of the shock straight from proline Here (http://www.pro-lineracing.com/proline/parts/6025/6025.html)

agreed. powerstrokes are not discontinued - just the full sets of 8 are. pairs of them, as well as rebuild/upgrade parts are all over.
i do own both powerstrokes and big bores, and can honestly say the powerstrokes aren't just a little better, they are a lot better. there is no 'gimmick', nothing added for show - it's all solid performance. they eat up small and large bumps much better, and the overall response is better than big bores.
that's not to say big bores aren't solid shocks - they perform amazingly compared to stock shocks, and are just as dependable and heavy duty as powerstrokes. neither set has had a leak yet. both sets have firm springs too (big bores have dual rate), as well as 50 wt. oil.
does that make powerstrokes worth $145 or more? no way. they're not worth twice as much as big bores. but my truck with the powerstrokes handles much, much better - if you can find a good buy (i'd say $110 or less) grab them. if you can't find them immediately for that price, wait and watch ebay.

You'll still need the towers.
