View Full Version : Who assembles gp3700 7-cell packs

My momma and I got my daddy an e-maxx for Christmas. We couldn't afford to get him any batteries, but I have some sorry venom 1500's to get him by for now. Anyway, he wants gp 3700 side by side 7-cell packs (he just wants to outdo my 7-c gp 3300's, especially since i'm about to go hv) , but the problem is I can't find anyone who sells them. I've tried ballistic, which I would rather deal with than anyone, but it appears they don't have the gp 3700s. I also tried tower, but the only packs they carry with these cells are 6-cell packs, and most of them are stick. I don't really want to buy the cells and assemble them myself if I can help it, and I'd rather not buy two six-packs and then two individual (can you even buy 2 ind. cells?) and solder them on myself either. Thanks!

I assume you want the E-Maxx style 7 cell packs, which are like a 6 cell side by side with the 1 on the top off to the side.

I have found www.maxamps.com to be the better and one of the cheaper places for assembled batteries.

They off GP3300's, GP3700's, and IB3800's as well as LiPo and other packs. They also even offer a custom built option if you need an odd pack made.

As for him want to out-do your 3300's. Its not going to make any difference since you have your HV (I read your I Got It! I Got It! thread too by the way :) ). First of all, the HV gives you added run time and speed, so the extra capacity advantage of the 3700's is pretty much been matched. Also, the slightly better voltage consistency that the 3700's offer will be leveled you by the fact the HV is just more powerful and faster than stock titans.

So, don't worry, even with slightly better battery packs he wont "out-do" you in any way (but dont tell him that).

When my dad joined the hobby he got the Jato, so he pretty much had be beat when it came to speed. However, I'm still better at driving and my truck's are better bash-wise.

Here (http://www.maxamps.com/index.html?lmd=38701.874433) are some at maxamps. I have got batteries with them before and have had no problems with them. Ha same time.:D

Yeah, I know he want outdo me at all, but he wants the best fighting chance he can get!:D I havent' installed the hv yet because I don't have the right gearing, so if he get's them soon it might make a small difference. I suspect it won't be long he will be investing in another hv-maxx system! I just hope it's not before his driving skills are up to par.
Oh yea, Thanks!

What do 7 cells do? Add more run time? Add more power? Or both?
Whats the HV talked about in this thread?
Sorry for the newbie questions!

Conduct a search, and you will find all the answers you want about this and many more, and probably spark some new questions! 7-cell batteries add more power over 6-cell batteries, because there are 2 total extra cells and that adds app. 2.4 extra volts. More volts =more power, more amps(mah) =longer runtime. The hv I was talking of is the hv-maxx brushless motor system from novak. It is designed specifically with the e-maxx in mind, and, although not the fastest, is one of the most reliable brushless systems for the e, and it's fairly cheap as brushless systems go.

The batteries are for my daddy, I'm content with my 3300's. I know I can't wait to run it! I've already got it installed in my truck, I'm just waiting for my steel idler gear, pinion and spur, and powerpoles to come in, which I ordered from ebay yesterday. I'd also like to order an 11-tooth pinion, but I think I'll use the 12 (70/12) till it comes unless someone tells me it'll overheat with that or something.

I'm assuming batterird is batteries?:D

Well, you're right. I searched and now have another question :)
I read that 7 cells with produce more current draw which equals less run time than 6 cells (of equal cells of course). So which is it, more or less run time with 7 cells?
Thanks again!
James

Less run time with 7 cells over 6 cells of the same capacity.

I believe the run-time loss is minimal, so small in fact that you will not notice unless you are out there with a clock. In my opinion, the extra power far outweighs the time loss, and I get excellent runtime out of my gp3300 7-cell batteries.

LOL yea... typing while talking on a totally different subject isn't conducive to correct spelling or grammer  :p

with 7 cells, the run time is shorter because when you full throttle, it needs to accelerate more and draws more amps. but also, in theory, you use less too because you dont need to apply as much throttle for the same speed, so in the end it evens out.

I have a big question. Can a dynamite twin peak charge GP 3700 cell's? Also could it cahrge 3600 elites? And are 3600 elites better than GP 3300's and 3700's i dont think its true, and they are a lot cheaper. I need these questions answered very quickly please thank you. :)

And are 3600 elites better than GP 3300's and 3700'sNo. IB3600's aren't either, but IB3800's are slightly better.
