is the 2.5 race legal on the jato and if not what moter would u get and would u get a easy start on it or a pullstart

no the 2.5r is not race leagl. you will need a .12
I would get a Mugen MT12. its by far the best racing engine for these trucks you can get. it neatly has the same power as the 2.5 which is just crazy for a .12. only thing is you cannot use the ez-start (wouldnt want to for racing anyway) and you can use a pullstart (no clearence between the header and the backplate) you have to use a starter box which is better anyway. less weight.

oh, also forgot to mention that if you plan on racing you will have to remove that 2-speed and the single speed conversion in.:)

Being race legal might not be a concern. Large sanctioned races obviously follow rules such as ROAR but alot of club racing doesn't carry such strict rules. The Jato may be perfectly legal right out of the box. Contact your local tracks and ask before worrying too much about changing everything.

How does ROAR work? I looked at the website, but didn't see any rules for anything. Could someone link me to the rules for MTs.

Thanks both of you. I looked all over and think I just looked over these. :o
At my local track, if you ask about a specific feature they'll usually quote the ROAR rules, but come race day, particularly in the off season, they usually let you race whatever as long as it isn't a major modification or unusual advantage. I think they get a lot stricter in the summer when things get more serious and more people are racing.
However, even then, if at least three people want to race vehicles for which there aren't specific ROAR classes, they'll allow them to race together.
