Yo I bought a e-maxx from this guy yesterday the truck is mint used like 2wice he claimed. He gave a vision peak 2 charger and 2 epic 3000 drednaught batteries. When I go to charger them all the lights light up in like 5 mins everytime. I know they aint charged so I did this a few times took the truck out and my run time was like 4 mins. Whats up with this. I tried charging them on 1 amp 2 amps and 4 amps the same thing happenes. I'll run the truck till it cant move itself and hook the batteries up to the charger and the charger is done in like 5 mins.

Hey Stuck Up, do you have a link to the manufacturer's website for the Vision Peak charger? Specifically, a link to the operating instructions? I'm curious to know about the charger. Perhaps there is a setting on it that will remedy your situation.

Cheers,

Your batteries may not be any good. If they were not properly cared for that could be your issue. Also check that nothing is shorting out.

I do not have a link but what do you need to know. There is only a switch for 4,5,6,7 cells and 1amp, 2amp, 4amp charge rates. Is it possible for batteries that were not taken care of to be shot in a month? In other words the batteries are 1 month old is someone didnt take care of them is that enough time for them to be messed up.

I believe batteries can be trashed quite quickly if they are treated poorly. It could be that the batts are beyond reach. I'm not familiar with your charger, but it may be worth trying to charge the packs at the 4-amp, 7-cell setting while keeping the batts in your hand. As soon as they are warm, disconnect them. If you leave a 6-pack charging at the 7-cell setting, it could do damage.

Also not sure if the peak setting on your charger is designed for NiCad or NiMH batts. Some chargers use a peak setting that is a compromise between the two, so they don't charge either type as well as a charger with adjustable peak settings.

Yea the vision peak 2 is capable of doing both NiCd and NiMh. However it doesnt have adjustable peak.

It's probably just false-peaking. That means the charger thinks the packs reached their peak before they do. Restart the charge when this happens & see if it fully charges them. My 959 did that occasionally, & if I restarted the charge, it wouldn't false-peak the second time.

Thats what I thought but false peaking everytime? Is that possible

It sounds like false peaking to me. And yes it will false peak every single time until you get a full charge in them and run them a few times.

I was able to rejuvenate 2 pairs of batteries that sat idle for over a year. I had to use a timer based charger (over 15 years old, ha!) . I calculated roughly how long each batt would take and "forced" the charge into them. I just monitored the heat of the battery to make sure they were only warm to touch.

After getting them charged up, I ran them in the truck. After a few cycles of this, they no longer false. peak.

Cheap batteries will degrade very quickly. One month of storage is definitely long enough to create problems. How severe depends on the quality of the batteries. Also, it's possible they never had a good charge in them to begin with.

If they are new batteries they just need to be charged as much as possible and then dicharged and so on. Eventually they will hold a full charge. I had the same problem at first, now it is working like a charm.

How do I get these things to take a full charge then?

My new batteries would only take like 5-6 hundred mah, then I would run them dead they would then take 7-8 hundred mah, and then so on until now they take 25-28 hundred. So just charge them until they stop then run them dead and then recharge them.

It doesn't I can restart it like 100 times nothing. And I noticed if I leave it on trickle for awhile the batteries lose alot of charge. This charger does not have discharge feature.
