Ok, has anyone had any experience with the the Nemisis 7-10XL motors. Plus which controller would be better...the Hacker 70 or Castle 80.. finedesignrc.com is sellling the nemisis motors
(7-10XL) and a hacker 70 or castle 80 in a combo for only 249.99... which seems like a really good deal... Is this motor good and what kind of speed would you get from this.

the Castle Barracuta controller looks better cuz its wateproof and it was a high cell range (5-20 cells) than the Hacker Master controller.

bro the castle 80 is for boats has no brake..

has anyone had any experience with the Nemisis "blue" motors, preferably the 7XL - 10XL...they say that they are new motors...Ill just buy the Hacker controller.

Finedesign is boat oriented, I'd advice you not to get motors/speed controls from him for your truck. He knows Boat's, and gives very poor support for truck users. If your a boat user, then go for it.

Try www.starluckrc.com for your motor needs, he's the orignal "Nemesis" motor distributor. He actualy has and drives Maxx's, so he should be able to take care of you.

Ok the prices are much better here....I'm looking at the Nemisis 7XL... what would you recomend for a controller?...I really dont want to spend that much on a controller, but maybe a high cell count on a less powerfull/expensive motor would and controller would give me good speed and power?

ok now Im looking at the Pheonix 45 -80 speed controllers( heres the link (http://www.maxxprod.com/mpi/mpi-261.html) ) to use with the Nemisis 9L. Okay, will the amp ratings for the controllers handle the 9L on 12-14 cells?

Where are the controllers that are suited for the E-Maxx?

Everyone has motors, but it seems like controllers are scarce as hen's teeth. I read a lot of talk about testing, but don't see any product.

I want to take the "brushless plunge", but the HV Maxx is non-existant just like controllers that won't smoke in a Maxx. :fear:

By castle, Phoenix means Airplanet, Baracuda is airplane, for land, they have the Mamba. The Mamba 80 sadly is not yet out. See what Jamie at starluck recommends for you.

unless I'm wrong here castle doesn't make a car/truck controller except for the mini-t .get the schulze 18.97kw . that is what he told me to get for my E but dosn't have them in yet will be around a week.they are expensive controllers though. I live around a hour away from him so gonna drive and get my system.:D :D

I thought you can use it for the emaxx cuz it has a brake? Why would a rc plane have brakes??

What is the Mamba 80?? Can it handle a 80 amps?

bottom line, the current Castle controllers are not suited well for cars.
the Mamba80 (yet to be seen) is made for cars, and the 80 signifies 80 amps.

Right now, unless something else comes out very soon, I'd say your best bet is Schulze, or BK controllers.

Hacker's new revised Car controllers are available in Europe right now, but are rated up to 10 cells only, but word is that they'll have higher voltage controllers out soon.

so for right now..
Schulze
BK [Micro Car series]

in the future..
Castle Creations [Mamba80]
Hacker [Car]
Mtroniks (maybe?)

there's other controllers, like..
Kontronik Smile/Jazz
and some other ones, but these don't work as well, and/or, are for smaller vehicles.

Ok i think i have my setup thought out....A Nemisis 9L motor (max amps 68) with a BK electronics WarriorCar Controller rated for 4-18 cells and a max amp draw of 70 amps...Sound good?

The 7XL is going to need a 100 amp controller, and at least 12-14 cell capability.

I just picked up a BK controller from StarluckRC and I am extremely pleased with it. I have put it through the paces and it keeps coming back for more, when others on the exact same set up ended up in a puddle of molten plastic.

The 9L only pulls about 68 amps so i should be good right? The warrior has an amp rate of 70.

plus i think that since the esc is rated for 4-18 cells, that the 70 amps comes from 18 cells, but im only going to be running 14 so the motor won't have any chance to fry the esc..;)

actually... Watts/Volts = Amps.
so if you have a small motor that gets say.. 600watts, on 10volts, that's ~ 60amps

if you have a bigger (ie. lower KV) motor, that puts out 600watts, on 20 cells, you'll have ~ 30amps., and more torque.

that's just "basic rule" though, and driving style, weight of vehical, ect play a big role in ampdraw, and voltage drop.

I'm not sure what the wattage is on a 9L on 14 cells.. but that'd give you a basic idea.
but if you figure you'll need to handle at least 68 amps, I wouldn't go with the warrior7018. just too close for comfort.
I'd go with at minimum, warrior9918, or up to the higher amp (more money) Micro series controllers.

I havn't run a 9L, and have very limited knowledge about what works, and what doesnt.. (i don't even have an emaxx  ), so there's other people that will be able to answer your questions more exact.

I just don't feel comfortable telling other people that a certain setup will work, when if I'm wrong, it could cost them alot of $.
good luck

Which model did you get, and how much did you pay? I don't see any listed on the website so maybe I should call.

The BK website lists the 9918 controller for $235 USD. (But who knows what the international shipping would be) Couple that with a Nemesis 9L motor, and that would be pretty affordable as far as BL for an E-Maxx goes. I suppose I could order direct from BK, but I would rather give a US based distributor the biz.

I decided to go with the 10L because the 9L's max of 68 amp was too close to the BK Warriors amp rate of 70, I dont want to fry my 175 dollar controller... and the 10L's max amp draw is 61..so theres about 9 amps difference, which should be enough. Plus I ordered a 5mm bore 20T pinion to make up for the rpm lose so I get good speed out of it as well.

DualBLv2

Halo=fun, 9amps might not be enough... and if you use a taller pinion to "gain what you lost in rpms", you'll get that 9amps right back added on, and possibly more.

heavier the truck is, harder the gearing, more friction, = more voltage drop/amp draw.

Im just going to buy a 18 or maybe a 16 tooth pinion... that would drop the amps.

Halo=fun

but wait, you said that voltage drop will be more amps, what if i have more cells like 14 rather than 12?
