Get a speed gems 2 17 turn saphire it has a lot of torque also drop the pinion a couple of sizes. You might need to build a wheelie bar.

Speed gems 17 turn sapphire is a very good and cheap motor. Yes it will do wheelies

I'd have to agree. I ran mine for nearly a year and it was a great motor.

I have also been looking at getting a 17t speed gems motor like you and have collected some gear ratios that people have used with their 17t speed gems motor.
84/19
87/15
87/14
Most people that I saw were using the 87/15 combination.

If i am correct that 87/15 gear ratio is actually lower than stock with a 20 turn motor? Is there something wrong with that picture?

here is my math
87/15x2.72=15.776
stock is
87/18x2.72=13.146

If i did something wrong there please tell me, because i have that motor on back-order at tower hobbies.

The Trinity Sapphire is a very good motor. And depending on your gearing and if you can get traction or not it can do wheelies.

So Web-TV man what you are saying is I could use the 18 87 gear ratio with the saphire and be fine or will i need to play around and get new gears. because all i have is the 18 tooth pinion and an 87 and 84 tooth spur gears.
