receiver battery problem...

When I plugged in my battery directly to the reciever the servos would go crazy and twitch... So then I wired it up to the switch and I still have the same problem, whats wrong?

is your reciver on?
are the batteries new in both reciver and radio?
is the reciver anntena too close to the radio anntena?
is the radio anntena fully extended?
are you inside your house?
all those could cause it to do that

Well may I point out its a 5 cell recharable (dynamite), And none of those things you pointed out helped, The first time i put the plug from the batt directly into the receiver it worked but not the second time...
