View Full Version : Glow Plug Leak

I just bought a new Tmaxx last saturday, broke it in Sunday and run it a few times this week. It ran great and I have not even started tuning the carb yet. But just now I was turning the motor over by spinnign the flywheel and noticed that I had an leak around the glow plug. I can hear air leaking as I roll it over. I took out the glow plug and checked to make sure the brass O-ring was there. I reinstalled the glow plug and got the same result. Any ideas?

If the glow plug gasket has a scratch in it, you will see that type of leak. I would remove the plug and clean the head at the plug threads real good making sure not to get any dirt in the cylinder. Then I would replace the plug with a new one, so you know the gasket is good. Do not overtighten the plug. It is possible to strip the threads in the head itself. If this happens, then replace the head which is about $22-$26 depending on where you get it. The problem is the truck will not run right if the plug is leaking since these engines rely on exact compression tolerances to run correctly.
