Youre asking the wrong question here. You should be asking whats the difference between NiMh and NiCd. Mah is the capacity in the battery, no matter whether it is NiMh or NiCd. For example, if you are looking at a 2400 stick pack, 2400 is the mah level. The higher the mAh level, the more runtime you will get.

The main difference between NiCd and NiMh is the amount of power and runtime you will get. You will get more runtime out of a 3300mAh NiMh battery than you will a 2400mAh NiCd battery. Some say you get more punch out of 2400mAh than out of 3000mAh-3300mAh. From my experience this isnt true. I just get alot more runtime out of the NiMh.
