My new project is to convert my electric Stampede to a nitro Stampede. Has anyone done this, any comments? What do I need for the conversion?

That's not a very cost effective conversion. You would be much better off to just buy a nitro Stampede.

Why you say that? I already have an engine, pipe and header along with servos and rx packs. I just want to know what components I'd need to bolt all this stuff in.

You would need everything except a front bulkhead, and front shock towers I think. Not a very smart thing to do IMO. ;)

Just because they have the same name, does not mean they are basicly the same truck. The each have a totaly different design.

would it be possible to mount the nitro motor where the electric one is? that is, do they rotate the same direction??? if so, i'm sure some bracketry could be fabricated to hold the nitro motor where the electic one used to be. but chances are, you would need a new tranny case after you hacked up the old one.
here is the real killer......it would prolly do a wheelie just sitting still. motor on the back, no battery pack up front anymore. (just a rx pack)
yeah, prolly a lost cause. but keep thinking, ya just never know when a killer idea will jump up and slap ya in the face! (this one just couldn't jump that high. heh, heh. jes kiddin')

they do have different designs but when you have the body on and all I cant tell the difference unless the nitro is turned on of course

Download the exploded views for both and compare them. Thats how I have done conversions before.

I would think that the hardest part would be transfering power to the rear differential. How would the power from the flywheel get to the rearend? Does the Stampede have some sort of tranny? I am not familiar with it.
How about somethin like a T-maxx chassis? They are all over Ebay. If you can unbolt the suspension from the Stampede, you could drill and tap new holes in the aluminum chassis to mount them. Could probably mix and match some T-maxx and Stampede parts to make it all work.
Basically if the suspension unbolts from the Stampede chassis, you could probably make a simple chassis out of aluminum...the one on my Sportmaxx doesn't look difficult to make.
I think it could be done...just look for good deals on parts to keep costs down. You could create your own hybrid vehicle!

It'd be easier and less expensive IMO to just buy a basket case Nitro Stampede off someone and replace what's busted on it.
And you'd end up with two Pedes instead of one.

Check the market place, or ebay, ebay has awesome deals, i may pick up a nitro pede myself, just for beating on it.
And multiple trucks are always fun, especial when you have an electric and a nitro!

I guess, I figured they had more compatable parts, like atlest the front end. Anyone wanna trade my e pede for a nitro one? I dont need an engine, header, pipe, or stuff like that.

If you haven't already, you may want to post a Wanted Ad on the Traxxas Marketplace forum, asking for exactly what you're looking for (sounds like you want a Nitro Stampede rolling chassis).
There are always people looking for E. Pede rolling chassis, and parts trucks so you might be able to recoup some of your money by getting rid of your electric stuff, either pieced out or as one lump sum.

Plus there would be absolutely no way to bolt an engine in where your motor went. Plus, your transmission would get trashed, Plus your plastic chassis would break on first impact. Uncontrollable wheelies also come to mind. But hey, anything is possible. I think it would be a lot more fun to get a nitro rolling chassis, and drop in your stuff, that way you would have two trucks! I have two, and it is three times as fun as one! i just rhymed! I wish i could talk in rhyme all the time!
