View Full Version : Glow Plug Problem

I posted this hear because nobody replys to anything in the nitro vee forum. About a week ago I had to replace the glow plug for the first time in my nitro vee. The stock one lasted a good amount of time but when I went to my LHS they only had the traxxas hevy duty glow plug and said it would work fine. I bought two but the next time I used my nitro vee it started very fast and ran great but when I went to use it again the next day it would not start so I looked at the glow plug and it was burnt out so I just thought it was defective and installed the next one and my vee ran great that time but now I try to start it again it is burt out again. I would think a hevy duty glow plug would last loger than a stock one but both of my hevy duty ones lasted 1 6 minute run each. Does anyone know what might be wrong.

Sounds like you have your engine to lean. Try richening up the high speed needle 1/8 to 1/4 turn.

it is 2 1/2 turns out on the high speed needle

That doesn't mean anything, that is just what the factory thinks is a good starting point. The fuel mixture has to change with altitude and such do to air density. So a carb setting at sea level will be to lean for higher altitudes, and vice versa.
