when you lean the LSN you turn it clockwise right?

Look at it exactly how it is: a needle in a closed area. The farther you turn the needle in (tightening) the less liquid (in this case, fuel) can be in the area, hence leaning.
The farther you turn the needle out (loosen) the more liquid you can fit in the area, hence richening.
