Here are two of the best investments for the Nitro Rustler:
RPM wide front bumper (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXEV91&P=7)
Fuel filter (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXD742&P=7)
6.69 + 3.19 + 3.00 (shipping) = 12.88
That leaves you with $2.12 that you can spend on some screws or washers or just enough CA to glue your fingers together.

The fuel filter you linked to doesn't look like you can clean it out. Can you? I bought this one instead.

heffc i got the same fuel filter, go run 1/2 gallon and then take the fuel filter apart and you'll be amazed by how much dirt is in there. thats a nice filter, it can be and should be cleaned regularly.

How about a new air filter. I run a motor saver and love it. Some people don't like it though for some reason.
You could get some ball bearing for the wheels or bellcranks.
Glow plugs? You can always use glow plugs.
Other then that, I'm not sure.

RPM front bumper... I just bought a brand new Rustler and the bumper was first thing I put on. I think it's already paid itself off. :p best 6 bucks I ever spent. Take the change and get some cool stickers.

tires...losts of tires

get a fuel filter for sure, and get either that wide front bumper or some new tires cause the stock one suck.:)

Fuel Filter and Extra AA's

yeah AA's are a godo thing to have. buy a fuel filter and then as many AA's as you can

I'm with you guys on the RPM bumper - saved ol' Rusty man times over. Best 6$.

You could also spend the extra money on body clips or shock oil. I always seem to be losing body clips and shock oil comes in handy if you blow lots of caps.
06-26-2003, 03:46 PM
ya buy body clips, i have had my rusty for about 3 weeks and lost about 20 clips or so.:)
06-26-2003, 07:01 PM
eww body clips are a pain, just buy a box of paper clips, thats what i do, they work good for me, they might be big and look a little tacky but there a bit easier to spot and dont come out as easy and you get 100's for only a few bucks hehe

I did this (http://misbehavin-rc.com/pit-lane/bodyclip/g-bodyclip.asp) and haven't lost one since. And as far as the hop ups go I say save it till you get more then buy something big :D

Or you could save that 15 dollars and change it into 30 over time.

even tho its a 15$ gift certificate for towerhobbies you should find a couple bucks in change laying around the house and pick yourself up a pack of zip ties from walmart. they work WONDERS!

Bearings... one of the best and cheapest upgrades for a stock rustler.
06-28-2003, 12:16 AM
important thing for a rusty:
(may be a rear shock tower if you plan jump)
shock alu caps
(are wheel bearing included with new rusty?)
Thing that you need very often:
Tire, a front tire set each 2 gallon if you run alsphat
a lot of rear tire!!!!
(in my case glow plug: 6 in a quarter!)
Extra AA battery (future upgrade to rechargable is not a bad idea)
Small idiot thing:
air filter oil
after run oil
squezzy bottle for fuel
