Okay, so I am just getting into nitro rc cars and a friend of mine that has been into it for awhile has an 1/8th scale RC500, I have never heard of it, but he says it's an old nitro car, but it has a .21 size engine in it.

He says it will smoke my 4-tec, but then again, he has been out of the RC scene for 2 years and he doesn't know much about the 4-tec, although he does not have alot of nice things to say about traxxas.

But anyway, I am just curious for anyone that knows anything about this "RC500" and if you think it will "smoke" my 4-tec, or is he in for a race?

If the motor still has good compression and if it is a 2speed and the chassis is true and setup. the rc 500 would smoke you!

I'd say it'll be an even match. Not all .21's are powerful. Some are actually very weak. Some .21 engines have the same power as the 2.5. Like the .21 that comes with the savage, it's so weak you can't pull a wheelie with the thing. But if the 2.5 was in there. It would MOVE. So i'd say it'll be a very very close match.

Black 13 The only bad thing is that there are no replacement parts the rc 500 is no longer being made by associated. If you are just planing on doing some parking lot bashing everything will be cool until you start breaking stuff. If you plan on getting into 1/8 road racing save your money so you can buy a car you can compete with like a serpent 950 or a mugen.
