I hated that rubber J tube too. If you don't want it any more, buy a "wrap around" header. Most headers available will go around the side of the engine to the ez-start/pullstart. I recommend the Traxxas blue header, part#4487.

Cvec and Dynamite makes headers that will eliminate the need for the J-Tube, but you will still need a coupler to connect the pipe to the header

Couplers are cheap man. Every LHS has them. That J tube was a real turd in my opinion. I used the Traxxas wrap around header, and an AE pipe. Works great.

I once had that problem
the guy at the LHS said that the car was running to lean.
so if u tight for money just richen it up a bit and it will last a bit longer, if u need to run it lean (as in racing) go for the new header it will save u money in the long run.
